Khafre succeeded on the throne of Egypt, the pharaoh “king Menkaure”, and he remained on the king’s sofa for more than twenty years, and it is possible that he was the son of Khafre, and in any case, his father left him the quarrels that took place between him and the family of “Daf Ra”, and it is believed that he was the one who completed the tombs .
His father’s family and his mother’s tomb “Kha Marar Nabta” in the rock located in the southeast of the second pyramid, and when the matter became clear to him, he began to prepare for the construction of his small pyramid in relation to the pyramid of Khufu, Khafre, but he decided to be covered with Aswan red granite instead of the white Sultanate stone Which was brought from Tora, yet his costs were much less than the costs of the pyramids of his predecessors.
However, while doing this work, “Menkaurea” died suddenly, and the pyramid at that moment had been covered by about a third (16 courses), and his funeral temple was partially covered from the outside, as well as the offering room was covered with red and black granite.
As for the Valley Temple, it was not completed during his reign, and after him he completed “Shapeskaf” with milk, and he placed in the temple all his tools, such as statues and utensils, but some of them are incomplete, and the internal stone in this pyramid indicates that there was a change in its design during the course of work, and the thieves entered this .
The pyramid in 1226 AD, and they found his coffin empty… And they found in this coffin (it must be another coffin) after they broke its cover, the remains of a human body without any ornaments, except for some golden tablets written in incomprehensible letters, and in 1837 he entered Colonel Howardvis and stoned this pyramid.
In the upper room, he found pieces of a wooden sarcophagus attributed to “the king of the north and south, Menkaure, alive forever.” With him was the remains of a human being wrapped in a yellow coarse woolen garment. In the lower room, a basalt coffin was also found.
Which disappointed the thieves in 1226, and the coffin and the remains of the body were transferred to the British Museum. As for the basalt sarcophagus, it was shipped to England, but the ship sank with it in Ljhorn on October 12, 1838, and it is still at the bottom of the sea until now.
The excavations of Dr. “Reisner” in the valley temple of “Menkaure” revealed artistic and religious treasures, and this group is considered the most valuable group found in the ancient state of the Fourth Dynasty.
Among them are the groups of provincial deities, as well as two statues of “Menkaure” and his wife in one piece, almost life-size, of granite, and they are considered the most beautiful pieces in Egyptian art in this era, and we have not received anything about the missions of this king abroad, whether they were for the conquest Or to cut stones.
The most important document that reached us from his reign was found in the tomb of one of his senior officials named “Dabhan,” in which this great employee tells how his master gave him fifty workers to build the tomb of his faithful servant.
He served him honestly and faithfully, and “Minkaurea” sympathized with him for that when His Majesty was on the road next to the pyramid of “Hurr” inspecting the state of work in his pyramid called “The Holy,” which is the name of the third pyramid.
As for the “Hurr” pyramid, it must be another pyramid related to “Menkaure” from one side, and some have thought that “Menkaure” had a pyramid like some of his predecessors such as “Sneferu”, and this does not correspond to reality, and the truth is that the “Hur” pyramid is The pyramid of his daughter “Khent Kaos”, and indeed we found the road that connects the two pyramids together, and part of it has been revealed.
Its pyramid was called “Free”; i.e. the universal of the nomenclature of opposites; The reality is that the pyramid of the queen “Khentkaus” is in a depression, and we will talk about it later.
