Statue of king Djoser,King Djoser was one of the kings during the 3rd Dynasty. It is thought that he might be the founder of the 3rd Dynasty. He is the son of king Khasekhmwy and his reign lasted for about 19 years. He is one of the most famous and strongest kings in the old kingdom period because of his step pyramid complex at Saqqara. It is the first free standing pyramid in Ancient Egypt.

It was built by his Architect Imhotep. This statue was the first nearly sized statue during the Old kingdom. It’s made out of limestone which is carried from Turah. The statue was found in a small room called Serdab on the Northern side of his step pyramid. This is the original one while a replica statue is in its place nowadays. In the Serdab you will notice that

there are 2 holes in the sight of the statue to allow the king to see the northern star. The king is depicted here in a sitting position on a low back throne. He is wearing what is now as Nemes headdress, but you can still see parts of his wig.

When it comes to his face feature you notice that his eyes, and nose are partly damaged, but that didn’t stop us from seeing the beauty of the statue which is shown in his high cheekbones, fleshy lips, and exposed ears to allow him to hear what goes around him, plus a false beard that he is wearing. The king is depicted wearing what looks like a long Hb-sd cloak. The Hb-sd festival was made by the Ancient Egyptian kings to show that they are strong enough to rule Egypt. It was made every 5 or 30 years or even when the king felt that he lost control over the country. Statue of king Djoser

His right hand is placed on his left side of the chest, maybe to protect his heart, which was meant by ancient Egyptian as the center of thinking, while his left arm is placed on his knees. On the front side of the base you can see an Ancient Egyptian text written with a high relief style. It contains the royal name of the king and you read it from right to left. The text is:
